All About LD
I’m LD Dowell. I am from a small town, Odessa, Missouri where I grew up with my three sisters, mom, dad, and lots of farm animals. From the ages 2-14, I was a competitive gymnast and planned to get a college scholarship for gymnastics and become a nurse. My dreams were shattered my freshman year of high school when I broke my back. The doctors told me I should find an activity that wasn't physical and that's when I tried out for the school play, Rumors by Neil Simon. I had grown up in church plays, so the little sassy actress was

in there somewhere, I just had to break her free. I landed the role of Claire Ganz and the rest is history. After that show, I decided I wanted to do this for the rest of my life. Theatre is the home I found when I was wandering lost.
Since my experiences in high school, I have discovered that I love the technical aspects of theatre just as much as performing on stage. I started off my college education at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO. After three years, I obtained my associate's of Fine Arts with an emphasis in acting and stage managing. I then continued my education at the University of South Dakota and graduated in May 2021 with my bachelor's of fine arts with an emphasis in stage managing, technical directing, and acting. After graduation I freelanced in New York, Colorado, South Dakota, and Kansas City. I also caught the tour bug when I joined a two week tour, called the Thorn. I then landed a job in the props world on Sesame Street Live and when that came to an arbrupt close in February 2022, I rolled over onto the props team for the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. In 2024 I got promoted to the head of props as well as being the assistant technical director. My home base is still Kansas City, MO, but I am usually out on the road in a new city each week. The tour world is a different lifestyle and I feel blessed to experience this opportunity.
